RECEIVED TODAY, AND SHARED WITH FR. GIROUARD'S PERMISSION:

Dear friends,

It looks like the July 2nd Excommunication Decree against the Neo-SSPX was not enough to open the eyes of its leadership.

After having declared, on July 3rd, that the excommunications were unjust and invalid, the Neo-SSPX leadership, on July 11, filed a recourse of appeal to the Vatican authorities. This recourse is based on articles of the Conciliar Code of Canon Law.

Interestingly, on July 2nd, Cardinal Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Christian Unity, the Vatican congregation dealing with "separated" Christian churches, declared that the excommunications did not end dialogue, as their main purpose is not to sever relations, but to bring a new life to dialogue.
Quote:
“An excommunication,” Koch said, “is intended to encourage repentance and restore ecclesial communion rather than to end every possibility of dialogue.” He also expressed his hope that discussions with the Society could eventually resume “so that they may once again find the path to the Catholic Church.”

As I said many times before: This is all a big show.

Both sides seem to fight one another, but they both want full communion of the Neo-SSPX with the Conciliar Church. The Neo-SSPX is at a disadvantage, because it refuses to recognize the reality of the Conciliar Church. They stick to their dream of dealing with the Catholic Church.

Keep the popcorn hot and buttered, and the beer cold, folks!

With love and blessings,

Fr. Girouard

I think that Fr. Girouard is right - the SSPX leadership believes that the conciliar church is the true Catholic Church. Otherwise, why would they care about what a bunch of extreme Modernists in Rome think of them?

I do not believe they think the conciliar church is the true Catholic Church, I think it's a matter of [canon] law and while it may (or may not) prove to be imprudent, it is possibly a good thing that they are arguing against the bs thrown at them by the conciliar crooks because, although in the end it likely will not matter, it has the potential of exposing the evil liars in Rome for what they are. Of course, if they ever have a trial at all, good luck having a fair one.

Their "ah ha moment" is that:
"This request, which constitutes the mandatory preliminary step before the possible introduction of a hierarchical recourse, has the effect of suspending the execution of the decree, in accordance with canon 1353 of the Code of Canon Law."

Which means that for now, the bs decree of schism/excommunication is void.

I think I see what you're saying. The exposing of the evil in Rome, if they have a trial, may be a good thing. But yes; having a fair one may never happen.

It's interesting that canon law provides, as you show above, a suspension of the execution of the decree, but I doubt that Rome will agree with that suspension, since they play fast and loose with canon law. But you never know, if they think that it can work to their advantage somehow, they may go along with a suspension of the decree. I dunno.

History repeating itself:

Appendix "E" 3 of 5
“Is this not what the Holy Father repeats to us today? And if a certain contradiction were revealed in his words and his acts as well as in the acts of the Congregations, then we choose what has always been taught and we turn a deaf ear to the destroying novelties of the Church.

"It is impossible to make deep changes in the « lex orandi » without changing the « lex credendi ». To a new Mass there corresponds a new catechism, a new priesthood, new seminaries, new universities, a charismatic, pentecostal Church, all things opposed to orthodoxy and to the magisterium of always.

"This Reform, being derived from liberalism and modernism, is wholly poisoned; it springs from heresy and leads to heresy, even if all its acts are not formally heretical. It is impossible, therefore, for any conscious, faithful Catholic to adopt this Reform and submit to it in any way whatever.

APPENDIX "F"  2 OF 2

...        3. Against the judgment brought forward by Bishop Mamie and with which the Commission of Cardinals concurred: if my "Declaration" is blameworthy, it affects me personally and as such ought not affect the fate of either my Society, the seminary at Econe, or my religious foundations, indeed especially since the Cardinals assured me the Apostolic Visitation of 11, 12 and 13 November 1974 reported favorably on the work of the seminary.
By virtue of present submission, an appeal having a suspensory * effect, I am therefore assuming that pending a judgment to the contrary my Society and all its dependencies do retain their canonical status.

I remain at your service for any further details you may require on this matter, and I am, your Eminence, most respectfully yours in Our Lord and Our Lady.

(Signed: Marcel Lefebvre )

This might be a reason the SSPX  still retains a legit canonical status , simply because there has never been a fair trial...and the appeal collects dust at the Vatican...
