This is shocking. But the sspx leadership has always been partial to germans/french.
So, recall that Bishop Galaretta is still out there, and in Mexico you have the +Carmona / +Zamora lines, etc.
BUT ... it's surprising to me that within the UNITED STATES, where you have many, many Spanish-speaking immigrants in the southern portions that would benefit from a bishop who was fluent in Spanish, in addition to English, and a touch of French perhaps for some French Canadians and to speak with the "mother house" and the other bishops / superiors, since French is in fact the, well, uhm, "lingua Franca" of the SSPX.
It would certainly have made sense to pick someone who's fluent in both English and Spanish, as well as could speak some French.
I think that these are "show" selections, though, and that they still have some trick up their sleeves.
