Anyone can get upset and say something absolutely horrible. It takes a different kind of man or woman to threaten physical violence, ever. Agree or disagree.

Violent threats should be illegal and if a spouse or child reports it, it should be handled. You may look up and see there are laws against it right now, no there are not. There are performative ghost laws which add no sentencing onto the individual who's found guilty as of today.

Hypothetically. You wake up every morning from the age of 0 onwards, hearing your parents hate each other, constantly.

Once you're two your father threatens to murder your mother, or you. Your father goes to prison on the basis of these threats. You're able to see him again in 10-15 years.

Once you're two your father threatens murder, it continues on throughout your childhood, you tell your school teachers, you talk to the resource officer, they tell you at least 20 times, "Sorry buddy, nothing we can do." Nothing changes, this is your home life 24/7.

Let me make it clear I would criminize extramarital spouses since there is no divorce, but for our modern world let's say your mother (or father, if you want) is very pious.

Which scenario is preferable to grow up in?

I agree with the first thing, women are more extreme and sensitive and insatiable in all matters, and that's a good thing. I dislike the woman bashing and doompilling myself, though the Woman Question does loom large today.

Regarding the thread, yeah it went all over the place, IMHO to the original post, I think there are both messed up women and men, in fact I'd wager most people are kinda messed up nowadays. Truth is they end up together and they do relatively alright.

I don't like the broken label, I prefer wounded, I think that yeah a person that has had a drug addiction and is covered with tattoos and then converted to traditional Catholicism is wounded, but I think that means they just probably won't land the 10/10 perfect person, probably another wounded person or someone with not that many options, and that's perfectly fine.

I also think that some people aren't wounded, they're just odd or strange, those people will probably end up with another odd or strange person, that's a fine thing too.
