    Pope?????? Francis

roscoe got me thinking.  I don’t read French so I assumed that the news release actually said what the opening post said it meant.  It turns out that it does not.  Running the text through Google Translate, I found that the press release actually says:

    Quote
Good news: the Coetus Internationalis Summorum Pontificuм announces second edition of pilgrimage to Rome "people Summorum Pontificuм" in October and the celebration of a Pontifical Mass at St. Peter's in Rome on the eve of the feast of Christ the King . Here is the press CISP:

Summorum Pontificuм PEOPLE BACK IN ROME

FOR THE END OF THE YEAR OF FAITH

The Coetus Internationalis Summorum Pontificuм (CISP) is pleased to announce that it will conclude the Year of Faith as it began: with a pilgrimage Ad Petri Sedem.

After the success of the spiritual pilgrimage in 2012, the people of Summorum Pontificuм will give new appointment to Rome to witness the eternal youth of the traditional liturgy of the tomb of the Apostle. The IPSC intends to participate in the harmony and the building of the universal Church, docile to the action of the Holy Spirit.

To answer the encouragement to "seguir adelante" (keep moving forward) addressed to him at the end of November pilgrimage Cardinal Cañizares Llovera, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, the ICPC had asked , earlier this year, the availability of the Basilica of St. Peter in his archpriest Cardinal Angelo Comastri. On 14 March, Cardinal Comastri has confirmed the availability of the Basilica next Saturday, October 26 at 11 am, for the solemn celebration that will be the highlight of the pilgrimage.

The Coetus Summorum Pontificuм Internationalis Cardinal Comastri thank for its hospitality and invites all groups linked to the extraordinary form of the Roman rite to prepare now by prayer and the pilgrimage to be actively involved in its organization.

Established in July, the Coetus Internationalis Summorum Pontificuм is organizing the pilgrimage of the people Summorum Pontificuм - diocesan priests or communities, seminarians, religious and faithful who adhere to the traditional liturgy - in Rome. This year, it is controlled by a committee consisting of: Giuseppe Capoccia, managing director, William Ferluc, Secretary General; Abbé Claude Barthe, chaplain. Advisor Giuseppe Capoccia, senior official Italian Riccardo Turrini succeeds Councillor Vita became, December 31, 2012, Judge of the Court of Appeal of the State of Vatican City.

This news release doesn’t suggest anywhere that Francis has “given his full support” to the celebration of the traditional Mass in St. Peter’s.  As far as I can discern, it appears that the availability of an altar was checked and reserved.  Francis may or may not even be aware of this action and may or may not intervene.  But this is hardly giving his “full support”.

Suggesting that this news release is Francis giving his “full support” is like suggesting President Obama is giving his full support to a particular committee that has checked to see if a conference room is available and, finding it free, has reserved the committee for a meeting.  The president may or may not even be aware of the committee, let alone giving his “full support” for the committee.  Likewise, I think it premature and even dishonest to suggest, based on this news release, that Francis has done anything regarding this particular matter.

I've gotten the news from a trustworthy person and reproduced it exactly as it was... I'm glad you brought some light to it.

I guess I should be more careful with foreign language news from now on.

  • Define "Tridentine Mass".  Do you mean the "extraordinary form" of the Novus Ordo Missae?  Or the Mass Pope St. Pius X canonized in with the bull Quo Primum?
Amen quippe dico vobis donec transeat caelum et terra iota unum aut unus apex non praeteribit a lege donec omnia fiant  (For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled. )

The Apostolic Constitution Quo Primum of Pope Saint Pius V (not Pius X) is still in effect and the "Tridentine Mass" - the Latin Mass - the Mass of All Ages is the only Mass of the Latin Rite - of the universal One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

The Novus Ordo Missae is a completely different service which replaced the Tridentine Mass.

It is the Mass that matters will be well worth the time to listen to.

Good find.  I think Trads are going to face a lot of this spin doctoring from the popolators over the next few weeks and months while they scramble around for something positive to say about this modernist Pope.  Investigative journalism skills need to be sharp and responses rapid.

  • It says on the eve of the feast of Christ the King. I may not be remembering correctly, but doesn't that feast on the NO calendar differ from the traditional feast day. If so, is a big event for the next day's feast going to overshadow this event done on a side altar. Well, that is to say if the event actually takes place. Someone must be testing the waters or using this as a tool of manipulation.

Maybe Bergoglio will stipulate that the mass must be said for the environment or whales or something.

  • Just an observation:  Whether he approves of the Catholic Mass or not is irrelevant.  The question is, does he condemn the new?

"Bear not the yoke with unbelievers. For what participation hath justice with injustice? Or what fellowship hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever?  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?" (2 Cor. 6:14-16)

Allowing the True Mass and the Novus Ordo to coexist together should send shudders down our spines, not be a cause of rejoicing.

A true sign of "change" is to be found when they begin to condemn error, not when they tolerate truth alongside error.
