  • So next time a Society priest preaches against going to an amusement park, how should the laity react? Laity tend to ignore priests though. Whilst Ireland has a little school for younger children, sadly many SSPX folk are sending their children to local secondary schools. Not ideal at all.

It was said before many of the parents who send children to the SSPX school in England are very pro-Capitalist.

Show him that the SSPX leaders want a new-change in this sspx.org article; then perhaps this priest will joint the resistance.

Perhaps but at this stage we must begin again. The network of resisting priests will increase but they won't be SSPX. The Society have slipped away. In time the resistance will have to look at independent schools, a new currency, housing, a new society.

It's quite an exciting time but a challenging one. We could sit back and think what could have been for the SSPX but our focus should be on what will be. The SSPX will fragment more and more as time goes by.

  • SeaWorld would be regarded as being pro-Capitalist. Certainly poor judgement on the part of the priests and seminarians.

  • For those inquiring, Septuagesima Sunday occurred last Sunday of January. February is right in Septuagesima and Lent. Which is why one is left wondering how appropriate the SSPX priests are in going to amusement parks in the penitential seasons! I understand after Easter and Christmas, sure!

They are quite the hypocrites so. Do take note if the Society preach against going to amusement parks in future.

And then of course it sets a poor example for the laity too, for the same reason.

    It's a very bad example.

The office of the priesthood, to which a man is raised by Holy Orders, is one of great dignity, but likewise one of no slight difficulty and of vast responsibility.

The priesthood is the highest dignity upon earth. It surpasses that of kings and emperors, nay, even of the angels themselves...

The sacerdotal office is also one of great difficulty; the obligations resting upon the priest are neither few nor light... he is bound to renounce all worldly amusements...

It cites dancing as an example, but it could just as well cite amusement parks and roller coasters.

As Archbishop Lefebvre very clearly states, the community life is of the utmost importance for the members of the Society of St. Pius X.

God made man social by nature, and the Archbishop shows a very good grasp of human nature in these passages quoted. As he points out, common prayer is by far the most important aspect of community life. It nourishes the priest’s interior life and is the powerhouse which gives fruit to his apostolate, but it is not only this which our Founder speaks of when he emphasizes the necessity of community life. Meals in common, speaking and recreating together are also of great importance.

Um, ok. Can anyone here imagine Archbishop Lefebvre going to an amusement park and riding a roller coaster? No? Didn't think so.

The above quote is an utterly pathetic attempt to use (more like twist) the Archbishop's words to justify going to an amusement park and riding a roller coaster. It is a promotion of materialism, and being of the world. And they're so proud of it that they post about it on their website!

    What's next? Disney World?

Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

How about the fact that they are or aspire to be "other Christ's". Can you imagine Our Lord or the apostles participating in the vulgar recreations of their time?
How about a nice hike, or a visit to a nearby shrine? These are the types of recreations we chose for our family- to preserve innocence. The more you accept the past-times and behavior of worldlings, the more willing you are to begin to compromise in little and then in big ways. It's called temptation.

Back in the day, we never had recreation like this at the seminary.

We stayed on the seminary grounds, went on hikes in the woods, or recreated inside the seminary.

Our recreation while Bishop Williamson ran the show was always discrete, for the reasons laid out by Pope St Pius X in my previous post on this thread.

  • Is it absolutely immoral for lay people to go to places like this?

My job will make amusement parks, beach, waterpark etc. unavoidable this summer.
