What do you consider 'fit'? A man could be strong in lifting weights but get tired from a short sprint etc. Or someone could have good endurance but have 'weak' strength.
Fit to me is just being healthy, eating healthy, staying in shape, and having a healthy heart. A man who can lift weights but gets tired by a short sprint is unhealthy, it doesn't matter if he is ripped. I'd be concerned about his heart health, probably too much cholesterol in his diet.

Again, I've seen too many marriages where people end up super unhappy NOT EVEN a year later, so that's why I'm completely turned off by it. And I think it's pretty rational to want a guy with financial security.
The two necessities for marriage:
1) The potential spouse must help the other get to Heaven
2) The potential spouse must love the other

Everything else is added assurance and insurance (for the holy union of man and woman not to be scarred by "divorce", separation, infighting, etc.

Indeed, financial security is very important, and I understand why women want/need it (in a temporal sense but still not required by God) for them to get married.

Today, many people are damagingly protective of their children. They need to struggle in order to grow in understanding of life in this valley of tears.
This is so true.

Can you define what you mean by 'fit'?
What did Jesus do?
What did Blessed Mary do?
None of Them were fat nor were they even slightly overweight. Both of them were lean and healthy and able to perform the physical rigors of daily life. Be like Jesus and Blessed Mary.

Every healthy person is fit but not every fit person is healthy.

Are you asking about my preference or scientifically?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

This article may be of interest to you and the others in this thread: "The Death Penalty Abolition Movement and Modernism".

To summarize its basic argument, the first nation in modern times to abolish the death penalty was Tuscany back in the late 1700s. It was done under the reign of Grand Duke Leopold II, who was also a enthusiastic patron of the heretical Synod of Pistoia. Both these acts sprang from his deeply liberal (in the "Enlightenment" sense) sentiments; thus religious and political modernism were intertwined, and we see the same story today.

The brainwashing is not just in gender studies, but permeates all subjects and the atmosphere. I don’t believe that it will prepare a woman for marriage, which seems to be what you are contemplating.

Regarding your hating the thought of your prospective kids struggling financially, there are many people who think like you.

I am of the opposite opinion.

My three children all worked in menial jobs while still in homeschooling, all three did a crash course in a trade of their interest while still homeschooling, all three had to move far from home at 17 to pursue their living. They always had to contribute to household work and expenses while they were still at home.

All three are happy, mature and balanced, all happy in the vocation they chose of the own volition.

Today, many people are damagingly protective of their children. They need to struggle in order to grow in understanding of life in this valley of tears.

Catholic Living in the Modern World / Re: Young Catholics are being pressured...

When I meant college I didn't mean gender studies, I meant real jobs that require a degree. I agree that college is a scam 90% of the time, but what I was trying to say is that I just want me and my future potential husband to be ready for the future. I don't know about other women, but for myself, I just hate the thought of my kids struggling financially.
