What happened to Rampolla after Pius X took over?

He was replaced as Secretary of State by the saintly Cardinal Rafael Merry del Val, but remained Archpriest of St. Peter`s, later even becoming Secretary of the Holy Office as well as Archivist and Librarian of the Holy Roman Church.

It is part of protocol for Sec of State to resign upon the election of a new Pope. By no means does this imply that Pius X demoted Rampolla. He was also appt by Pius as Chmn of Pontifical Commission of Biblical Studies

Thank U Pyross

Certainly something to consider against the theories that Rampolla was a mason. Rampolla also died suddenly before he could be the next pope, therefore, it looks like God didn't want him as a pope, having rejected him twice. "Something to consider".   :scratchchin:
