My problem with the "consecration of Russia" idea, it is easy for me to figure out, comes from too much exposure to Catholics who think America is the greatest country ever and spend too much time living in a Cold War movie in their heads, demonizing Russia.

Remember that both Socialism and Communism were condemned by the Church.

So was Americanism.

Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about.  Semi-Americanist attitudes, slightly tweaked so as not to cross the line, are very prevalent out there.  Saying "America is the greatest country ever" doesn't necessarily mean approval for separation of Church and state, but it hardly implies disapproval, does it?

When these same people plugged Fatima into their irrelevant Cold War vision of the world, it was almost inevitable that I would be skeptical.  But as my passion has cooled about America, I'm able to see that Mary's disapproval of communist Russia doesn't somehow imply approval of America.  That was just what certain people read into it.

I've never said America is "the greatest country ever." I don't see how any Catholic could really think that, because the country was founded on indifferentist principles. I just don't think one can attach heresy (Americanism) to people just because they love their country.

In my experience with sedevacantists (not on this board or online), I find that there are a good number who believe in Our Lady of Fatima's apparition and pray to her, but believe that her demand for the Pope to consecrate Russia and her promise of an era of peace is of no relevance, as if Our Lady was lying or God changed His mind about how He wanted to do things. Probably because "there is no Pope" to consecrate Russia. I think if there was going to be no Pope around to do the consecration or there was at least no possibility of there being another Pope to come, then I dont think Our Lady would have bothered asking. She knows good and well what's going to happen, because she doesnt do anything outside the will of her Son.

So yeah, most sedes believe in Fatima. I think question is, do they believe ALL of it?

Btw, I dont mean to contradict your individual experiences regarding sedes in this matter, Im just contributing my own experience and observation. My bunch was/is wacko.
