Seriously, though, there's a bit of Pharisee in all of us. We benfit nothing from the parable about the Pharisee and Publican if we secretly "identify with" the Publican and almost say, as it were that, "thank God I'm not like that Pharisee." God intends for us to benefit by discovering and uprooting the Pharisaical tendencies, the leaven of the Pharisees, from our own souls, even if its presence there is far more subtle than what the Pharisees put on display.
Finally, what, pray tell, do you mean by being "Pharisees"? So people who obey the Popes in this matter are Pharisees because ... said so?
