Roscoe,

"Shinola"... is that Italian?  :-\

Who are you defending?  Pope Leo XIII, Card Rampolla or both?

Please, speakest thou to us?
Any piece of paper claiming that Card Rampolla was a 'secret occult mason in OTO' is just as fraudulent as that claiming Fr Feeney was called to Rome or ex-comminicated for not complying. :fryingpan:

And btw-- Eugenio Pacelli was a personal student of Card Rampolla.

I recently went through this thread regarding the claim of Rampolla being a freemason. I find roscoe's defense of Rampolla persuasive.

I do find Pope Pius XII's defense of Jews during WWII problematic, but I hold out the possibility for there being a good explanation for his actions.

Wasn't he also Hitler's Pope?
He was involved in a plot to kill Hitler. I hardly think that makes him Hitler's pope.

Nonsense.  There's no requirement in terms of "standards" for the protection of the Holy Spirit.  Did you investigate whether Pius XII did adequate research before defining the dogma of the Assumption?
If he is guided by the Holy Spirit then how much research is necessary?
