“These admonitions are to be founded upon a suspicion of guilt excited by public rumour, and after an investigation to be made by one having due authority, with the result of establishing a reasonable basis for the suspicion."
Public rumors = Yes.Investigation = hasn't happened.Reasonable basis for the suspicion = none.
I ought to clarify here, and if I say anything about +Thuc again, I will take it to the proper conversation. That quote from the Catholic Encyclopedia was from me, showing how the Church regards suspicion even based on public rumour, as enough to begin an investigation. From what I have read, what is said against +Thuc is certainly more than a mere public rumour. I said this because people keep dismissing suspicion as if it means nothing in moral theology, when in fact, it means a great deal.
apologies.
Forgiven. Whoever downvoted Tom, if you did that on purpose, at least he has the charity to apologize. How many people have that today? I am learning more and more as I come on here and elsewhere, this charity is rare indeed.
