I'm a male. He's not your spouse yet. You should still get married if you are called to it just not to him. Honestly he doesn't sound like a decent person. Just so you know, the Church never promotes mixed marriages, just that alone, that he isn't a Catholic, is a problem.
Was he joking about the bag thing? Coz I can see it being a tongue in check joke but doing something small and joking that it's a big thing.
Can this man even provide for a family? Does he have his own home? What about yourself? Do you have debt ? A job? Etc.
Well he IS a Catholic. But a lot of times I don't think he remembers it. Because when he tells people our choices in life as Catholics (going to traditional Mass, practicing chastity etc.), he always says that's "her requirements" or "what she wants to do". I have doubts that if I leave the relationship he will completely stop practicing.
And no, he wasn't joking. It came up when he was shouting at me, not a casual conversation.
And yes he can provide. But I don't think he understands the value of a homemaker or appreciate it as much as other Catholics. He rather have me working and make big bucks together so we can live in big houses etc while he already makes more than enough money. I can be making 90k/year potentially but I decided to do what's believed to be better in a Catholic home. Then he would tell people that I would be a stay home mom because "that's what she wants" and it's a great favour from him to accept the responsibility to be the only provider at home. Because well, I'll be using his money.
At some point I start to reflect on why women want to become independent and work out of home. I mean, if that's how one's husband view it as if you're some burden to the family unless you bring money home, you will start to think that too, right?
