Such sad news... I'm impressed by the number of members of this forum who have been genuinely affected by Matto's presence here. I know that I was many times influenced, for the better, by his "childlike" simplicity. He will be much missed... Requiescat in pace, Matto!

I met Matto on a number of occasions and once drove him to one of the first ‘resistance” masses in New Jersey.  I remember him as someone humble, quiet, a gentleman amidst so many forward, self-promoting people as one finds in NYC.
