  • I would be interested to see what Ladislaus has to say about these. I was saying the Deliverance Prayers of Fr. Ripperger for awhile before but stopped saying them. I am not sure I can tell any difference between praying them and not praying them. Perhaps it has been better lately, or it did not matter so much for me with having still the same temptations either way.

    Nevertheless, these seem to be good prayers that are tried and true from Catholic Tradition:

    Saint Michael Prayer shortened version for the laity:

    Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

    St. Benedict Medal prayer:

    The Holy Cross be my light;
    Never the dragon be my guide.

    Get behind me, Satan!
    Never suggest vanities to me!

    Evil are the things you pour,
    Drink your own poison!

    A Prayer of Saint Anthony of Padua for times of temptation (inscribed at the base of the obelisk in St. Peter's Square):

    Behold the Cross of the Lord!
    Be gone all evil powers!

    The Lion of the tribe of Judah,
    The root of David has conquered! Alleluia!

    I am not sure about these other prayers to St. Michael though (one can be found in the Angelus Press missal):

  • Prayer to the Virgin: Remedy Against Evil Spirits

    Indulgenced by St. Pius X on July 8, 1908. Original text from the prayer dictated by Our Lady to Father Cestac on January 13, 1864. It is recommended to learn it by heart.
    August Queen of Heaven, sovereign Mistress of the Angels, thou who from the beginning hast received from God the power and the mission to crush the head of Satan, we humbly beseech thee to send thy holy legions, that under thy command and by thy power they may pursue the evil spirits, encounter them on every side, resist their bold attacks, and drive them hence into eternal woe.
    Who is like unto God?
    O good and tender Mother, thou willest always to be our love and our hope.
    O Mother of God, send thy holy Angels to defend us and drive far from us the cruel enemy.
    Holy Angels and Archangels, defend us and keep us. Amen.

    We pray this with our morning prayers.
    Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
    Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • I say the St. Patrick's Breastplate every morning.

    Quote
    I bind unto myself today
     The strong Name of the Trinity,
    By invocation of the same,
    The Three in One and One in Three.

    I bind this day to me for ever.
    By power of faith, Christ's incarnation;
    His baptism in the Jordan river;
    His death on Cross for my salvation;
    His bursting from the spicèd tomb;
    His riding up the heavenly way;
    His coming at the day of doom;
    I bind unto myself today.

    I bind unto myself the power
    Of the great love of the cherubim;
    The sweet 'well done' in judgment hour,
    The service of the seraphim,
    Confessors' faith, Apostles' word,
    The Patriarchs' prayers, the Prophets' scrolls,
    All good deeds done unto the Lord,
    And purity of virgin souls.

    I bind unto myself today
    The virtues of the starlit heaven,
    The glorious sun's life-giving ray,
    The whiteness of the moon at even,
    The flashing of the lightning free,
    The whirling wind's tempestuous shocks,
    The stable earth, the deep salt sea,
    Around the old eternal rocks.

    I bind unto myself today
    The power of God to hold and lead,
    His eye to watch, His might to stay,
    His ear to hearken to my need.
    The wisdom of my God to teach,
    His hand to guide, His shield to ward,
    The word of God to give me speech,
    His heavenly host to be my guard.

    Against the demon snares of sin,
    The vice that gives temptation force,
    The natural lusts that war within,
    The hostile men that mar my course;
    Or few or many, far or nigh,
    In every place and in all hours,
    Against their fierce hostility,
    I bind to me these holy powers.

    Against all Satan's spells and wiles,
    Against false words of heresy,
    Against the knowledge that defiles,
    Against the heart's idolatry,
    Against the wizard's evil craft,
    Against the death wound and the burning,
    The choking wave and the poisoned shaft,
    Protect me, Christ, till Thy returning.

    Christ be with me, Christ within me,
    Christ behind me, Christ before me,
    Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
    Christ to comfort and restore me.
    Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
    Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
    Christ in hearts of all that love me,
    Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

    I bind unto myself the Name,
    The strong Name of the Trinity;
    By invocation of the same.
    The Three in One, and One in Three,
    Of Whom all nature hath creation,
    Eternal Father, Spirit, Word:
    Praise to the Lord of my salvation,
    Salvation is of Christ the Lord.

  • Yes, the Rosary… and other remedies.

    Another remedy for our worries and needs: The Novena of Surrender.
