I'm allergic to soy as well ... probably because it's one of the most GM-altered crop out there.  And nearly EVERYTHING has soy in it these days.
Yes and I forgot to mention that as a result of GMO tampering, I also allergic to corn so no yummy Mexican food for me.

Just came from Aldi, and their paper bags are a full 6-7” shorter than last time I was here.

A few months ago, reports were posted here that their prices would be incurring a significant increase.  Shorter bags must be the new way to mask the inflation (“I still get the same number of bage for the same money.”).

Not only they are selling smaller portions at higher prices, I think they are also changing the recipes of processed food.

My cat always ate a brand of cat food and lately the prices of that brand started oscillating wildly. One week you could buy the 3kg package, next week could be 50% more expensive and the week after that the price was back to normal. Coincidentally, my cat stopped eating that thing and I had to start feeding him another brand.

The explanation could be that they changed the recipe to cut costs to control the prices a little bit. Otherwise, I don't see how could they lower the price, given that all costs are going up. That could also be the case for food for human consumption.

Stay away from processed foods as much as you can.

They have been overcharging for smaller  food and other essentials long before covid.

People will haggle at a farm stand while gladly paying for food at the supermarket.

Many people don’t pay anything for food and don’t work.

We are the ones who get robbed.

Not only that, but their bags are junk.  If you have more than about a pound of stuff in your bag, the handle tears right off.
