Interesting! My parents bought a “fixer-upper” in 1955 for $6,400. House, built 1948, had three bedrooms, one bathroom, combination dining/living room, kitchen, full but unfinished basement, one car garage beneath house. Looks like one floor from front, two floor in back, on 1 3/4 acres. It had been used by US Army Reserve for training weeks. It needed LOTS of work, both house and grounds.
Today, the house is worth $1,002,000!!! A young couple on one US Government income wouldn’t even look at it. It has been totally renovated, added onto, basement fully finished, but same grounds.
