I just can't believe that India would present this stuff as if it were real, so I have to think they're not.

Among other things, what's filming this thing?  Secondly, it's so bad that a third grader could do better.

So, my major point is that we're really supposed to believe that the same minds that produced the cartoon simulation could successfully land something on the moon?

And, for me, the same minds that have produced some of the worst software I've ever had the misfortune of seeing.

In all fairness, my assumption of what was seen is a simulation of the progress of the mission, though it's completely unnecessary to have a visual representation. For all we know, they did land something on the moon, which could be now a small crater of wreckage. I don't think any news station will try to pass off the footage as real, but we'll see.

Ok, I'll bite --

Why not show SOMETHING REAL -- I don't know, an image taken by the lander, etc.? Why not take pictures of the moon as they approach it?
And you know, back in the day, they used to include disclaimers on-screen when they were broadcasting something non-real. "Dramatization", "Artist's Visualization", "Artist's Concept". Anyone remember that?

This kind of cheesy 1950's quality special effects just makes the WHOLE OPERATION even more suspect. They UNIRONICALLY put this forward without any embarrassment -- so we have to be embarrassed for them.

If they were sarcastic/ironic about it, some would have given them a pass. But when someone is sincere, but embarrassing, THAT is the stuff cringe is made of.

Even if this turns out to be "on purpose fake footage", the shoddiness shows how incompetent they are, and the idea they were able to land a craft on the Moon is a huge joke.

Yeah, that would make a lot more sense. You'd think they would have several camera angles with today's small camera technology that would require minimal resources.
