Flat Earth Model
« on: September 09, 2025, 02:23:06 PM »
To keep things honest, I say in advance that don't hold to the flat earth idea, but I don't think it is a subject that is beyond debate. I just went through about 30 pages of the posts on this forum and (although admittedly I did not read every post, as that would be extremely time consuming) I did not find any description of a model of how flat earth would actually work.

That is, if the earth is flat, is it a flat disc? or one of the faces of a flat cube? What are the positions of the sun and stars in relation to the flat earth? How are the motions of the sun, moon, planets, and stars accounted for in the flat earth model, etc. I am not asking for anyone to write an essay in response to this question (although you may if you wish), but a link to a description of the flat earth model would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The TFE trip to Antarctica seemed to kill off the Gleason Map but Flat Earth is still intriguing for a number of reasons - videos of the sun and moon with clouds in front and behind, scale issues, water still always finds its level, etc.  I found these guys in the back corner of the internet somehow. They both, I believe, have backgrounds in construction so measurements are key to them.  I thought this was a pretty interesting vid.  Watch on 2x speed since he presents it rather slowly.

I appreciate the responses so far, but watching a bunch of videos is pretty time consuming. I will try to find time to look at some of them in which the gentlemen involved try to explain their model, but is there not any textual, diagrammatic source that would allow me to understand more quickly what is being envisioned?

As for the images posted. I question whether those images of the ancient Hebrew conception of the universe are relevant. It is hard to imagine how the fact that which stars one sees in the night sky depends on the latitude of the observer could be explained by that conception.
