I'm afraid to own a gun. It seems like if you shoot someone you go to jail, no matter what the situation. Anybody know the percentage of people a year who shoot someone in self0defense that end up serving jailtime?

I'd like to shoot for recreation at ranges. I think that would be fun. Only shot a rifle twice and that was a long time ago. I wonder if a bbgun would be good protection. I got hit by a bb once and it was very painful and broke my skin.

No doubt it was, but merely breaking the skin and causing some pain isn't going to stop anyone.

Well, there are some pretty impressive air guns on the market, and if someone came into my house and that was all I had, I would certainly try for a head shot, but after that shot, you better be ready to follow-up with something else.

There are also interesting stun guns for use at intermediate range which would definitely incapacitate at attacker, and you would not need to get within arm reach to use them, if you are leery of guns.

Stun guns are a great idea! I think I may get one. They have stun guns that look and function as flashlights do and have a million volts.
