It strikes me as dishonest.
Why not just raise the price and be done with it? At least then we can see the reality of food inflation -- who knows, maybe people might find some good solutions once they REALIZE that food prices are rising at a rate of 25 or 30% a year.
But making the peanut butter can have a larger "indent" on the bottom, to shave off 1.7 oz. of peanut butter -- that's sneaky and underhanded. They're hoping people won't notice!
When someone lies to you, and you discover the truth on your own, how do you feel about the original liar?
If General Foods would lie about packaging and amounts, what else are they lying about? Health concerns regarding their products? Genetically engineered ingredients? Harmful substances in their food? Etc.
