Thank you for your question PV.
1. I don’t believe the Pallavicini’s were Catholic Black Nobility anymore but rather mobsters.
2. They were backing the SSPX to help position it as the controlled opposition to the Consiliar church.
No other traditional group ever received significant funding or media attention.
3. When and if +ABL ever knew of this, we don’t know?
4. But for sure, there were problems with the SSPX’s foundational members and consecrated bishops.
Those “problems” made it very easy 40 years later for the SSPX to sell itself out to the crypto-jews.
And BTW, like the jews, the SSPX has become masters at re-writing history in their de facto news publications, such as Catholic Family News.
One problem with the SSPX being the deliberately controlled opposition theory is that Rome "excommunicated" them in 1988.
In doing so, it lost all control.
+Fellay acknowledged that in a couple famous conferences in Kansas City in the early 2000's, in which he said the excommunication served as a defense and benefit to Tradition, because now Rome had no more bullets to fire, and could not exert any more influence over them in the form of negotiations, pressure, etc.
And, after that excommunication came the golden age of the SSPX for the next 10 years.
I don't believe the SSPX was ever the controlled opposition...while Archbishop Lefebvre lived, anyway.
The advent of Bishop Fellay to the Superior Generalate seems to have changed that somewhat.
If you want to do some interesting research, look up Fr. DuChalard (SSPX/GREC): He (along with Schmidberger) was/is Rome's primary liaison with the Society. Those two were the ones who really got the ties reestablished with Rome, but it went into overdrive under +Fellay.
