Classic that only the American isn't bilingual :laugh1: I just hope that Latin is implied for each of them.

Well ... almost none of the modern-day clergy can speak Latin conversationally, even if some can read it fluently.  So that wouldn't even count really.

But they certainly COULD have found some bilingual or even triligual American priests.  I know some actually.

I stand by the assertion that Fr. Goldade had been chosen (apart from being an obsequious +Fellay-ite, aka +Fellay-liner) to keep the St. Mary's contingent energized and less likely to defect, where, if there were some canonical repercussions, they SSPX would not survive intact a significant defection at St. Mary's.

I stand by the assertion that Fr. Have you considered at all that Fr. Goldade might've been chosen because he's been a Priest for 22 years, has been a prior, is in his early 40s, and is currently the rector of one of the SSPX's two largest seminaries that's in one of the SSPX's two largest districts in addition to that, maybe, Fr. Goldade has personal qualities that the SSPX superiors might value in a Bishop?

Let's say for argument Fr. Pagliarani really did choose a candidate to pacify the St. Mary's contingent. How does it make any sense that Fr. Goldade get chosen for that reason instead of, for example, the current prior or un-canonical pastor of St. Mary's themselves: Fr. Patrick Rutledge or Fr. Jonathan Loop respectively?

St. Mary's has had a lot of new families moving there in the last few decades. As far as I know, the only connection Fr. Goldade has to St. Mary's is that he was raised there for most of his childhood. That would've been back in the 80s or early 90s. How does that give him any connection to a large number of the families that have moved to St. Mary's since then instead of choosing someone who would be known to a large number of the newer families there?

Further, if the SSPX leadership that chose the candidates really chose Fr. Goldade to keep people at St. Mary's from defecting, they must not think much of their faithful.  To think that people who have determined (wrongly) the SSPX just committed a schismatic act and that the Bishops are excommunicated, and accept as valid any sanctions that might be levelled against the Priests or the faithful, would somehow just put that all aside because one of their homeboys is the beneficiary of what they think is a schismatic act, is ridiculous.
