    • Car Gurus shows they're going for about $32k. Kind of surprising, I thought it would be worth a lot more.

    Oh, and I saw where an oil change from a dealer is only $230 for one of these, not $500.

    • You'd pay taxes on the prize and then be subjected to very high maintenance costs.  Not worth it.  If I want to make a donation, I'll just make a straight donation.  Plus, I'd be embarrassed to drive around in that car when many large Catholic families are struggling to make ends meet, and lots of children around the world are starving to death as we speak.

    That's the car that was donated to them, so what were they supposed to do then?  Say, "No thanks"!?  That'd be rude.  Keep it?  Can't you just hear the people complaining about the Rector of the SSPX seminary driving a Mercede-Benz?!  

    Their best and only option is exactly what they are doing:  raffling it off, hoping people will ask their non-traditional yuppy friends with their 2 kids to buy a ticket, giving others an opportunity to support a good cause while bringing in "outside" money for a change.

    The owner could have sold it and given the $33,000 to the Seminary, but a well-run raffle can make 10 times that amount.   They'd be stupid not to hold a raffle.
