A few years back, under our previous pastor, we'd have our annual Rosary Procession down town. We'd process for a few miles around town. A few blocks from the Cathedral was the Bishops' residence. We'd stop there and offer a decade of the Rosary for his intentions and conversion to Tradition. Finally we'd end up at the steps of diocesan Cathedral where we would pray the Rosary with a makeshift Altar set up in front of the main door in honor of Our Lady. We did this for many years.

Father would always send the local Bishop a letter letting him know that we would be on his front lawn and at his Cathedral praying the Rosary and invite him to join us. He never did. Once or twice we would hypothesize that he was peeking out his window at us but we never knew for sure.

I also, know that when he became our new Bishop our Pastor contacted him and let him know that he was remembered in our Masses. Other than that, I don't know of any contact that our Pastor had with the Local Bishop.

Even the one time I tried to contact our local bishop, he ignored me. Several years ago, one of the Catholic high schools here was putting on "Rent" as their high school musical. It is a play about ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity and drugs, and the traditionalists felt it was highly inappropriate. I filed a written letter of concern with the head of the Catholic schools (a liberal religious sister), who ignored me. (She has always been extremely unfriendly to traditionalists.) I then wrote to the bishop, who similarly ignored me. I finally got the Papal Nuncio involved! I got a package of their advertising material together and overnighted it to him in Washington, along with my formal complaint. I also made a surreptitous trip to the offending school and planted miraculous medals all over the place. They supposedly "toned down" the play somewhat, taking out that horrible dirty swear word, but they could not change the topic of the play. What was most saddening to me is that the bishop let such a play go on at a Catholic school in his diocese. But then the diocese seems to have the motto "gαy is okay"--I have actually heard people say those very words. If I had children (I am a consecrated person), I most certainly would home school them!

If you can do so without revealing more about yourself than you think prudent, would you be good enough to tell me what city or locality "here" refers to? I seem to recall hearing a secondhand report about this sordid musical being staged at the biggest neo-Catholic high school in Providence. I cannot say for sure, however, that my recollection is correct. I know that the True Faith has few adherents in Rhode Island, but I don't want to censure the institution or the city's and state's people erroneously.
