Kimmel, a 1991 report concluded, fancied himself 'the American Nelson' and neglected his defenses while preparing for attack. He had already had a falling out with Short over the defense of Wake Island. Short wanted command if the Army was deployed there. Kimmel refused, and deployed the Marines instead. This falling out explained why vital intelligence was not forwarded from Kimmel to Short.

Kimmel was fast-tracked over the heads of 46 other more experienced, senior commanders!

Kimmel and Short must bear some of the responsibility for the losses at Pearl Harbor. Despite the warnings they had been given, they were not ready for war. But they were not the only commanders to be unprepared. General Douglas MacArthur on the Philippines, for example, had seven hours' warning after the attack on Pearl Harbor and his aircraft were also caught on the ground. He eventually conceded the Philippines with over 70,000 killed or taken prisoner, yet he went on to become a war hero.

Australia’s Pearl Harbour’ – the bombing of Darwin

The 19th February 1942 saw the first and most deadly bombing attack on the Australian mainland during the whole of the war. Japanese planes attacked the largely undefended northern city of Darwin and hit it with more bombs than at Pearl Harbour itself. The main targets were the ships in the harbour but the town was also hit in a second wave and at least 243 people died in total.

The shock to Australia was far greater than the military significance of the raid, which was not a prelude to invasion as some thought. Subsequent official secrecy surrounding the raid, mainly designed to cover up the poor level of defences, only caused more controversy and rumours about much larger casualties.

Instead they plotted and hatched "PEARL (Dar-hebrew) Harbour" for '42 and all the things leading up to it, that people have uncovered, that the elites orchestrated to make sure the Jap attack was a complete success!
