It is an interesting article.  I use olive oil because I like to know where things come from.  My grandgfather's whole family lived past 100 and they were farmers who ate butter and eggs every day, but never margarine.  Lots of things we eat are neurotoxins in larger doses, as the previous poster mentioned, things  mustard and horseradish.

I have noticed that certain microwave popcorn makes me choke and cough when I eat it, so I buy other brands--I wonder if canola is in there.

Yeah, microwave popcorn is gross!   :laugh1:

LOL I hate popping it on the stove top. I always burn it!

I don't think rape was created by God to be a food oil, and I think there are probably some problems with Canola oil that we aren't fully aware of.

That being said it's not bad in Trader Joe's hummus.

If you have a blender you can make your own hummus easily.  Just use sunflower or sesame seed oil, tahini, garbonzo beans, lemon juice and garlic, and maybe a dash of cayenne or soy sauce.
 :chef:

(but who knew canola is so nasty?!?)

Make sure you buy the expensive stuff. I read a book about olive oil called Extra Virginity, and it says most of the cheaper olive oils are adulterated, even most extra virgins sold on supermarket shelves.
