What is the Catholic teaching regarding this question - can the souls in heaven see us here on earth? What about the souls in hell?

I believe they can, which is why they can hear our prayers and intercede for us when we ask for favors.

If it would give greater glory to God thenm the souls in either Heaven or Hell can see us here on Earth.

Cato: why do you ask? It is an article of faith, the mystical body of Christ, that all pray for one another. Those in hell, have no grace to do such.
