  • Can a woman take her vows as a Carmelite and leave the order only to take vows as a Franciscan?
I do not feel that is possible, am I correct?

    Thank you

If someone is released from vows for whatever reason, that person is usually free to enter another institute.
Even without a release from vows, it is usually possible to go to a "more strict" environment, eg, non-cloistered to cloistered, or for priests, secular to religious.

Thank you for your response. This is a case of not agreeing with the Carmelite order she made vows in. She found a sedeprivationist bishop (a Dominican) who accepted her vows as a cloistered Franciscan.
