They show people leading impure lives with a picture of Lady of Guadalupe on their walls and lots of rosaries, holy cards etc. around the house. Why?
If there is any hispanic/ latin american person on the forum let him clarify this for me. (I have to repent from watching those movies but I can't help wondering and feel that I am scandalized).

For many of them, Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Rosary are just cultural icons that they do not really believe in.  The Novus Ordo and the Council, really, are responsible, since they say that nobody goes to Hell, people can have their impurity and hypocritically keep the Rosary and picture of Our Lady and pretend there is no problem, that they are "good people."  Many superstitiously treat the Rosary and Our Lady of Guadalupe like talismans and charms, too, thinking that they can sin with impunity and that they will still be protected by the spiritual power of their religious articles.  I have seen many Mexican women in public places wearing visible brown scapulars but dressed immodestly.  At least, in my experience from people from Spanish-speaking portions of America, that has been the case; maybe CatholicSamurai or s2srea could comment.

One thing that is even worse is that I have recently seen people wearing Rosaries without even being Catholic, because it has become a fashion recently.  At least, I strongly doubt they are Catholic, since they are otherwise dressed like gangsters and appear to be refugees from New Orleans.

Ya its a disturbing trend I have noticed too. I posted a thread on CAF forums about it and everybody thought I was crazy. I think they wear them as kind of a good luck charm, and also because the different colors of the rosaries indicate their specific gang affiliation.

....And that horrible telemundo channel with it's movies from Columbia, Costa rica and Mexico showing semi-nude women praying before an statue of Mary for the men they lust after!!!!!!!!
Libertine exist in all cultures, no doubt about that. But they are not religion-minded.
(unlike those latinos who want both their religion and their sins.)
