Assistant to Padre Pio in Cincinnati offering Latin Mass
« on: March 23, 2010, 10:05:45 PM »
Fr.Ermelindo DiCapua, OFM Cap. who was an assistant to Padre Pio for 3 years before he died, is doing a Lenten Mission at Old St. Mary's.

7:00 p.m. Latin Mass Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and 9:00 a.m. Sunday.

He's hearing confessions mid-day and giving talks during these days.

(513) 721-2988

Our family went to his talk tonight in our neighborhood, and he is a very humble, warm and loving priest.

I looked up on the Internet Old Saint Mary's in
Cincinnati, Ohio. I never been to Ohio, and at my
age perhaps never will.
O what a Beautiful Church, so lucky to survive the
gutting that happened to so many Catholic Churches
in the name of renewal, and vatican 2.
All they need is to remove that table in the
Sanctuary, and return the Mass to the High Altar.
I remembered when I use to be an Altar Boy at
Saint Dominic's in Washington,DC when the
changes where just beginning. The older
Priests would call that table that was placed in front
the High Altar, a Protestant Table.

Nice change, eh?  I know that when I was at the seminary, whenever one of these old-school priests came to visit, the seminarians were all over him, trying to imbibe some of his spirit and his wisdom.  These priests received their formation when things were relatively normal in the Church and we weren't in this siege or bunker mentality--the same one which leads to the formation of cult-like groups.

LOL, that's just exactly what I was going to say, "nice change"!  My family just basked in the love.  The Holy Spirit Center has an impressive collection of relics, The Twelve, St. Thomas Aquinus, Mary Magdelene, St. Gertrude the Great, St. Dymphna, True Cross, St. Peter, St. Francis, St. Joseph, Our Lady and others.  Even Modernism cannot defeat the holy relics.

Although there were stampedes to the Bloody Mitten.

RomanCatholic1953, there are tons of gorgeous Catholic Churches here, and an extraordinary number of them have all-night adorations, and have preserved the High Altars.  I remember I used to take the Metro and walk over to St. Dominic's because they had a good confessor.

Anyway, I hope a lot of people get to imbibe the old Capuchin's love for souls.

I wish he would come to my neck of the woods, but no such luck.

Elizabeth, what a special gift and grace for you and Catherine to have met this priest.   When you encounter things like this, does it make you want to go back to the novus ordo church?  It does me, but then I remember that the times and the Church that formed Fr. Ermelindo are long gone, maybe never to return.
