Here in Pennsylvania Dutch country, we are "obsessed with dough - and I do mean that literally. We like it boiled, fried baked, rolled and cut for pie, rolled and cut for pot pie, rolled w/ butter and cinnamon and baked in a pan, dropped into boiling chicken broth, ham broth & beef broth.
Add a chicken and butter (our OTHER obsession) to all of it and you have our diet staples.
When my daughter moved here from the West, she asked, "mom, why are all these people so heavy?" Ergo; chicken, dough and butter.
Exempt from the "heavy" are the Amish who, though they eat the exact same diet, do so much physical work that they can keep their "figures".
