On one level, I wouldn't mind it if the CATHOLIC Mexicans came up here and drove out the Prot WASPs ... and even today many have those vestiges of cultural Catholicism, and even the nastiest drug lord will blow you away if you disrespect Our Lady of Guadelupe.  There's a Mexican restaurant near me where the owner not only has little statues of St. Jude and St. Therese, but he also prominently displays a 10-foot-tall statue of Our Lady of Guadelupe right by the front entrance.
