    • what passes for the papacy has become so irrelevant that the only people who really pay attention to what Bergoglio says are trad Catholics, just to use as a barometer of gauging some eschatological time table.

    How would you know that the only people really paying attention to Francis are trads? 

    IMO, the Novus Ordo folks do still pay attention to what Francis says. I peruse and read a lot of online blogs (and diocesan bulletins), some of which are Novus Ordo, and they do quote Francis at times, and usually in a positive manner. They don't seem to see anything wrong with what he says.

    Since most here don't have anything to do with the Novus Ordo, evidence of this isn't obvious.

    it's pretty obvious that the majority of novus ordo Catholics don't have an issue with Joe Biden, Nancy Peℓσѕι, ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity, premarital sex, socialism, divorce and remarriage, because THEY VOTE FOR THESE THINGS. 
    They stopped paying heed to what any pope or magisterium has had to say decades ago.

    You had previously mentioned that only trads pay attention to what Bergolio [Francis] says. I contested that. If you disagree, that's fine. But I do pay attention to what the NO folks say, in an admittedly limited capacity. Do you?

    I can't help but pay attention to what NO people believe because most of my extended family and acquaintances come from that background. My comment had more to do with what passes for NO Catholic culture at large, which can easily be gauged by its conformity with progressive politics. Name any major Catholic university and the administration, faculty, and student body are aligned with the gospel of George Soros far more so than the gospel of Christ.

    Thanks for the clarification. Yes, quite a few NO'ers are progressive. But some also consider themselves to be conservative, at least in my area. They are pro-life, etc., but they don't really condemn sin as they should. What is considered as conservative is really just a lesser form of progressive. Proper catechesis isn't much heard from the pulpit.

    But still....the conservative as well as the progressives will, at times, quote Francis. Not in the same way as trads, of course. Trads will look for error. But from the subject of this thread, it is evident that not everything that Francis says is an error.

    Right.  And that's precisely one of my arguments about Universal Acceptance.  According to Billot, the notion derives from the idea that Catholics cannot accept a false rule of faith.  While some might argue that, "Look, he's sitting there in a white cassock!", no Catholic (who isn't just name-only ) actually accepts Bergoglio or any of the V2 papal claimants as a "rule of faith".

    Well, Traditional Catholics don't really pay attention to the Bergoglio, and the Leftist/liberal "Catholics" pay no attention to him either, so it's only the conservative neo-Catholics who do, but even they only do so grudgingly and are on the fence, as more and more of them are questioning wether Bergoglio is actually the pope (so unpalatable he has become even to them).  We're fast approaching the state of Universal Rejection.
