  • Today - Monday, April 27 - is the First Anniversary of the death of our dear Fr. Collins. Let us remember him in our prayers!

    Prayers for the Anniversary Mass of a Priest's death

    Collect:

        O God, Thou didst raise Thy servant, Fr. Joseph Collins, to the dignity of a priest in the apostolic priesthood; grant, we entreat Thee, that he may be joined in fellowship with Thine Apostles forevermore.  Through Our Lord...

    Secret:

       Receive, we implore Thee, Lord, the sacrifice which we offer for the soul of Thy servant, Joseph, a priest.  In this world Thou didst raise him to the honor of the priesthood; bid him now to enter into the company of Thy saints in the Kingdom of heaven.  Through Our Lord...

    Postcommunion:

       We implore Thee, Lord, may Thy mercy benefit the soul of Thy servant Joseph, a priest, and may Thy pardon obtain for him to live in eternal fellowship with Him, in Whom he trusted and believed. Through Our Lord...

    Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord;

    And let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen

    "We have loved him during life,
     let us not abandon him,
     until we have conducted him by our prayers
     into the house of the Lord."

    ~St. Ambrose~

  • Wow, I can't believe it's been a year already.  He died on the Feast of St. Peter Canisius, the great German Jesuit and counter-reformer.  A food day to go.  RIP, Fr. Collins.
    "Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

    Father would have gotten a belly laugh over that. I do miss him, he was a great friend.
    For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

    Oops! I'm glad to hear it, though. :)
