Which is exactly why he wasn't banned.

It's easy to forget that when he instantly went into retreat.  He didn't write one post to defend himself.  Strange.

He was acting a bit kooky a day or two before his "admonishment", I thought.  I sensed a depression coming from him.  He'd give curt, inexplicable responses to things, kind of defeated and morose.  I like to think it is because he is becoming dimly aware that he is wrong about BoD and is going through a sea-change.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

BOD can still be discussed as far as I know, but keep it to the crisis section (there is no reason for a discussion about badminton to turn into a BOD debate)!

Matthew banned CM from precisely that section... Which is sort of sadistic.  Why didn't you ban him from everywhere BUT the Crisis section, Matthew?

  • I just got an E-mail from David/CM and he says he is blocked completely from posting anywhere -- might be a programming glitch, Matthew.

I knew this silence was not like him!

CM is irritating, there's no doubt about that.  I wrote him a sympathetic letter yesterday and got the expected snotty reply that he doesn't "respect my position."  I understand that if he really feels baptism of desire is a heresy, he must preach against it, but he doesn't know how to lay off at key moments, how to work the soft sell.  Instead of improving, he did get worse and worse.  It starts to sound like he is just reprinting a form letter -- a huge chunk of text appears in every thread about baptism of desire, as if it was cut-and-pasted.

    This I agree with.

  •   CM2, Are you really CM or another person pretending to be him?
If Matthew sees this, he may ban you totally.

Do you intend to rectify it so that your statement may be a true one?
    David

You can't have duel accounts CM.  If you intend to cause trouble than you will definitely be banned.  I also wonder if you really were FK, Agobard, and whoever else.  This reminds of Robert Rawhide.

  • CM appears to have signed up with a new name CM2 in order to inform Matthew that he can't view any portion of the board.

I've long suspected, however, that CM=fk.

  • Ok, guys, cool it.

I didn't intend to ban CM -- when I ban someone, I make it quite clear publicly. All you'd have to do is look at any of CM's posts, and see that he's still a "Members II", not "Banned".

I didn't "test" what I did, so it's very possible that I made a mistake.

I'll correct that mistake right away.

  • I set up the new group Members II, but forgot to add CM to it.

At first I was going to edit the permissions on the account "CM", but that would have been more tedious -- so what happened was:  I left "CM" with no checkboxes checked, which effectively means "no rights whatsoever". Apparently the software considers that the same as a ban.

    Sorry about that.

However, I felt that he was charitable enough to stay on the right side of banishment.  He actually made an enormous effort not to insult people and to be patient, compared to other Feeneyites.

No, he was driving people away. And might I add Uriel was a 'regular' as well.  He was here for about a year before getting banned.

I think the objectively evil statements of denial of the nαzι genocide attempt and the other comments of a "political" nature are much more likely to drive people away than CM's "extreme" but geniunely religious and well reasoned views.

CM has the same views that many Trads have:

Deposing a valid Pope is much worse than discussing a historical issue.

Actually I have sinned greatly in the past by presenting arguments in themselves good with bitter zeal and I know that I will have to answer to God for that one day which makes me very uneasy to say the least. I believe that God hates that in your face pompousity that you talk about (and again its something I know I can easily fall into).

Also I believe that Matthew was just in banning Fk...Fk was basically screaming out to be banned.

However I dont believe that CM is motivated by bitter zeal and in my private exchanges with him where I disagreed with him he was anything but pompous and in your face.

I dont think outside of possibly the sick child thread that CM has behaved badly on this forum.
