  • Why was Mark79 Banned?  First I heard about it.
I thought he was recently reinstated.

He was.  Then, relatively quick, was re-banned.  Had to do with a discussion about the number of bells at elevation/consecration.  Mark79's posts on the subject seem to have been memory-holed, though.

Yes.  I think the whole thread was pulled though.

  • I had been wondering if he was on CI anymore, or what happened, though I felt like it would be gossiping to ask.  I thought maybe he had just decided to take his commentary elsewhere, and/or to focus on his own website.  Lot of information there.  A LOT of food for thought.

I shall pray for our friend, and hope he will recover and make his way back here one of these days.  I came of age in a time and place (secular college campus, 1980s) where people could disagree, sometimes very energetically, without being disagreeable, and without thinking any less of one another.  We used to fight like cats and dogs in graduate seminars, then decamp after class to the Mexican joint across the street for wings, potato skins, and pitchers of cold beer, like nothing had ever happened.  I'd like to see that ethos become part of our culture once again.

  • "Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • We had a friend who was on ventilator and he pulled through.  He is older gentleman and now he is out and doing really well.

May God bless you and keep you

If he was being insubordinate, that was his fault, not mine. I don't appreciate the 1984 reference here, especially as you're applying the demonic "Ministry of Truth" which is dedicated to lies and distorting history, to MYSELF.

Sometimes I moderate a post or series of posts, especially when it is one of those "on the way out" kind of posts. You know, the thing people say to their boss after they win the lottery, or once they get a better job. Basically "Take this job and shove it where..." or something to that effect. It wouldn't be good for the morale of the remaining employees, for the boss to allow such a note to stay posted on the wall, break room, etc. so he would be a good man if he ripped it down and threw it away.

My banning of Mark79 seems harsh or even "wrong" now, with him on a ventilator and in danger of death. But when we had our last fallout, he was in perfect health and I had no idea he would end up in the hospital months later. Let's keep this in the proper perspective.

I will add that some choleric individuals *need* to run their own show, if they're going to participate at all. Some can sort-of get used to being a mere member on a forum or discussion group, but it's rough. I'm sure you can think of a few CI members this applies to. It applies to me, I'll admit it. It's the Rooster phenomenon --  roosters naturally fight with each other.

I wish I had a nickel for every "Free Rooster" add on Craigslist. People want ONE rooster for their flock of chickens -- any more are "extra" and they just fight with each other.

He is extremely lucky. If a ventilator is not used correctly could blow out the lungs causing death.

Banning him was the right decision or not.  I assume right, but I don't remember and wasn't involved.  Just because Mark's in a bad situation now, doesn't mean he shouldn't have been banned.

I like Mark, but there was no fault on your part if he broke the rules.

  • The reason, it seems to me, why Mark79 is so well-liked on this forum is because he's a sedevacantist. IMO, he was not nice, as has been said about him on this thread. Not nice at all. But that doesn't mean that he shouldn't be prayed for in his time of need. Glad that many here are praying for him.
"It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."
