If there's one thing I can't stand, it's blasphemy against the Holy Name of Jesus or God the Father.
And almost everyone does it these days. They do it casually. No one says "hot damn!" or just "damn" anymore; they replace that with blasphemy. They say it when they're frustrated, joking around, being silly, happy, excited, you name it. They use it for emphasis, which turns into EVERYTHING THEY SAY because everything they say they want to emphasize or sound earnest about. Kind of like "fr" (for real), "on god", "deadass", "literally", "I swear", "straight up", etc. It's the eternal quest to sound serious/earnest and get respect and attention -- though when overused, it ends up getting ignored. Because 3/4 of the time, you're NOT swearing on your mother's grave, deadpan serious, etc. You're just joking around and uttering literal lies. So then you're back to square one...
Throwing around a varnish of vain filler words to make your verbal diarrhea into words people will carefully absorb, consider, and accept is a fool's errand. It will never happen.
Blasphemy is always on their lips.
Well, it could be a preview of where they are going -- in Hell, blasphemy pervades the air like a heavy, cursed vapor. As St. Theresa said, "Heaven is on the way there." The same could be said of Hell.
