In some places. Where I live, it means Catholicism, if the people in public even know what that is. I've had the blessed opportunity to teach children what it is. I believe this ties into what the original post is saying.

Wearing it openly is ostentatious, in my opinion. Just an opinion, nothing more.

I have this rugged metal paracord Rosary that probably weights 2-3 pounds, and I've always thought it could double as a physical weapon in addition to being a spiritual one.
