I have a fondness for Irish Traditional Music. This is a good site to learn what it is and what it ain't:
Many glad memories of the Eagle Tavern on West 14th Street in Manattan on Monday evenings in the 1980s; in addition to at least one fiddle, there was almost always a bodhran too. Yes, a bodhran would count as a favorite musical instrument (to hear, if not actually to play).
Also many places along McLean Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue in Yonkers, especially on the Saturday afternoons of the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Not a drop of Irish blood in me, but deeply Catholic hills and harbors with good music will always hold my attention.
