This amazing phenomenon, now called the ‘sun dog’ (parhelion), occurs just a few degrees above the horizon when the sun takes on this incredible corona with two solar images. Above we see the three suns that soon merge into one, described by some as a divine type of the three distinct persons that are the one God.‘Sevenfold sun miracle or seven sun dogs which were seen in our skies on Sexagesima Sunday, 20th of February of the year 1661 from 11 o’clock until after 12 o’clock.’--- Observed by many in Danzig and described by the astronomer Johannes Hevelius (1611-1687) to pastor Georg Fehlau of St. Mary’s church.
