  • I'm the OP.
Some bad, Neo-SSPX priests suggested divorce to her. At least one is pushing for annulment, and divorce is required for annulment, but the marriage is clearly valid, and consummated.
There are some similarities tobut there are no children involved.
How awful!  Prayers for you and your wife.  😣🙏

Under what grounds did the SSPX priest push for an annulment and the marriage being invalid?

How long have you and your wife been married?

Thanks be to God that you have no children yet...  That would make her filing for a divorce SO MUCH worse for the sake of the children...

  • Did the priest even talk to you?
No, they didn't tell me they encouraged her to file civil divorce (with the aim to seek an annulment). It's very shady.

That sounds disgusting. I'm sorry that happened.

This is so upsetting.  Is there away for people to approach this priest and confront his behavior?

I have, but it didn't accomplish anything.

  • If your wife filed because of priests telling her, she's a weak-minded fool. Does she think she could find a better guy? She could have gotten those comments from family members, "friends", people from online, etc. I believe she had an intention to divorce you but the priest or whoever gave her the motivation.

What are you accused of doing that she would seek options for divorce? It's not really our business, but we are only getting one side of the story. Granted divorce isn't the Catholic way, but some men may be blind to how they contribute to such situations thinking they are the innocent and justified victim.

Not op. But, Who cares? It reflects badly on her that she filed for divorce. Believe all women I guess. Marriage is for life, she knew that. are you telling him that he should have simped for her and kissed her butt? Cause that always works!

  • I have heard that SSPX priests will "approve" of divorce if the wife says the husband looks at p@rn.

Being prone to sarcasm, the initial response that comes to mind is, "And I heard via the National Enquirer that Elvis is still alive". In other words, what credibility is there to this accusation? It would seem to me that there are enough verifiable criticisms to be made of the SSPX that one need not risk being guilty of calumny.

No. Not that there's much chance of remedying the situation, but the fact this is happening could indicate he wasn't leading as holy of a life as he should have. He may not have been nearly as edifying to her as he ought to have been to inspire her to be a holy Catholic as well for better or worse.

That's dumb. She's her own person and she needs to take accountability for her actions. It's not up to him to make her happy. You are basically telling him to simp, ok gotcha. Do you think all the women initiating divorce mean that the husband was doing a poor job? Give me a break.

  • Wife filed for civil divorce.
The State doesn't have authority over Christian marriages, so what does it matter?
