  • Generally speaking, for one who is prone to scrupulosity, being uncertain whether you committed a mortal sin usually means that you didn't give full consent.

    My advice is to do your best to remain calm, resign yourself to the fact that this is going to be a struggle, spend time meditating on the love of God, spend time with our Mother Mary.

  • So would lustful thoughts be material sins? Sometimes it's difficult as they come with the bodies hormones so I don't always realise that my mind is thinking about women, who might be a potential wife, having/raising children (which usually leads to the thought of how children are made). In the last case I am not always sure if I took pleasure or/and consented to the thought..
    I'm not a priest nor a man obviously, but I think, based on things I've read (including the BC quoted in my other post), material sins are those that you realize after the fact.  I would think lustful thoughts would be venial sins unless you dwelled on them and/or acted on them.
