Men should not make their happiness dependent on a woman
Men should make their happiness based on God.

What does friendships between spouses have to do with happiness?  I think I have missed something.  I don't think I am saying anything untrue though.

I never denied that, however the Church does not suppress nature as you perversely imply

I don't understand your comment.

Happiness is an internal feeling.  If you require anything but God to provide you with happiness you will be solely disappointed.  God provides happiness by different people at different times, or by knowing what makes you happy and providing that, like a beautiful sunset, a friend surprising you with a coffee, or a friendly smile from a stranger.

Nope.  I have plenty of women friendships.  And this conversation was about married spouses.  Should they be friends?

Some men will say yes.  Some men will say no.  I think the happier households the spouses are friends and lovers.  And the children are happy and stay with the Faith.
I agree, the happiest marriages are when the husband and wife are best friends as well as lovers. If there is no real friendship the relationship will struggle.
