It brought back the memories 1962 Cuban Missile Crises. At least people
were prepared and many owned their own bomb shelters. My Dad spent the summer of 1962 building a bomb shelter in the basement of our house.
Civil defense was part of education in those days. Many large buildings
basements in the cities and towns were equip with bomb shelters and fully
stocked with foods and water. For many years you still see signs marked
"Fallout Shelter".
As history turned out we were seconds from WW3 and must have been
an act of God that prevented this catastrophe.
If this happens today and since missiles can fly supersonic speeds. There
would be not enough time for for any warning.
The government has long since abandoned the idea of protecting their
population from a nuclear attack.
The government might have given up on civil defense, but it's not for any rational reason. Maybe because they want to thin the population?
Because the fact of the matter is, MOST people wouldn't have the privilege of dying in the initial blast. The United States of America is a VERY big place. It's a myth that humanity has a nuclear arsenal large enough to destroy the world several times over. That is something they like to repeat, but the truth is that it wouldn't happen. There would be plenty of survivors.
There are only a handful of nuclear armed nations. Many nukes wouldn't get used before the governments/installations got taken out by other nukes. And the Earth is an even larger place...
But many of these survivors would die a slow, needless, lingering, painful death at the hands of nuclear fallout. Puking your guts out, having your hair fall out, and watching all of this happen to your children as well. And dying of thirst isn't as tame as it sounds. Oh, and those children will look at you with big doe eyes and say, "Why, mommy?" and "Why, daddy?" and let's not forget, "I'm still hungry."
Call me whatever you want, but I think putting back some food and water is only prudent. There are too many things that could happen. All of which would require having extra food and water...
We can't be hard-###es like some worldly people and say, "Heh -- I'll just shoot all of my family and then myself." That is what many unprepared pagans might think today. But euthanasia, murder and ѕυιcιdє aren't options for Catholics!
I think the problem is that most people -- including Catholics -- haven't thought much about this, period.
Videos like this force you to think "what would my first thought be" if this were real.
I'm sure your first thought wouldn't be, "I wish I had a chance to finish binge-watching that one TV series on Netflix..."
