Not necessarily. If we're speaking specifically about economics, then multi-polar is just a term to denote multiple economic systems operating at the same time. This would be a change from the current "US petro dollar" unipolar system we have today.
"Unipolar"/"unipolarity" is their way of referring to the present Pax Americana.
Right, it refers to the current american "petro dollar" economic situation, where the US dollar is the world's reserve currency.
These terms have nothing to do with politics or communism, but only describe the economic systems which could exist among the world's superpower countries. The BRIICS nations have a better economic outlook than the US/Europe, so we're definitely moving towards a multipolar system. This is just reality.
