  • Should the U.S. help China's earthequake victims and the search effort? We all know that China is planning with Russia to invade the West in a Communistic world domination. If we refuse to help, then the Chinese government will be set back financially and economically and in other areas and so it won't have as much money or resources to plan a Communist invasion (or at least not for a while longer that is - buying us more time before WWIII).

When the leaders responsible for deciding on any rescue efforts reach their judgement, I don't think God will be that impressed if they say "No, we didn't help the thousands of suffering, injured people and the millions of homeless people. Yes, we had the means, but we wanted to set their country back economically..." Cf the last two wars, where nurses from both sides would care for wounded soldiers from both sides in their hospitals...

What people don't realize is that when we send "foreign aid" it's not going to the starving people in the huts, it's going to the dictators in the palaces, unless the aid goes straight to a local charity.

I would really be cautious about charities in general also (unless they are Catholic - and even then, we still have to be cautious about which ones because most Catholic charities are run by liberal nuns and priests in lay clothing who teach a watered-down and liberalized faith to the poor they are helping feed).

One example of a charity that is big (and that you see ads on T.V for) is Feed the Children. But Feed the Children only spends about 14% of the over 800 millions dollars it gets on feeding the poor.

    www.charitywatch.org
is a website that lists some charities who are deceptive and don't use the money you give them to where promise to go (click on the "articles" section).

  • I would recommend prudence in your giving -- use whatever means you have (internet, etc.) to research the organization you're thinking about supporting.

I would also recommend keeping your charity as local and personal as possible. If you know someone in your family or church who is poor, it would be best to help them instead of someone half a world away. We're not meant to know about all the sufferings over the whole world -- it's more than a person can deal with.

Anyhow, if you put food into a starving kid's mouth and a bad man takes it right back out before they can swallow it, it's pretty simple. God judges both actions -- you will get a higher place in heaven, and the bad man goes into hell for eternity.
