• Trump is NOT the relief we've been hoping and praying for. He's bought and paid for, just like Bush Sr, Bush Jr, Obama, Hillary, and all the rest.

Trump is a pawn like all the rest of them. Now we're on course for WW3 with Russia and China! Great.

Quote
A statement from Syria's general military command said the strikes caused "extensive material damage" and undermined counterterror operations by the Syrian army. The operation "makes the United States of America a partner of ISIS, Nusra Front and other terrorist organizations who -- since the first day of this unjust war on Syria -- have been attacking Syrian army positions and Syrian military bases."

That is absolutely true. Syria and Russia are actually trying to get rid of the terrorists -- which are actually our secret forces of course. The terrorists do the dirty work the US military can't do openly.

The US was dinking around in Syria for how many years? They were just blowing up Syrian infrastructure, so they could cause economic damage and lead to regime-change: they want Assad out.

Russia comes in, and within WEEKS the terrorists are on the run. Today the terrorists are defeated. The United States was losing even their WEAK excuse to be in Syria. (Of course, if Russia claimed there were terrorists in Alabama, would we permit Russia to come in and start bombing our country? Of course not. Syria never gave the USA permission to come in and start blowing things up.)

But America's secret army is behind the recent fαℓѕє fℓαg chemical attack -- you can bet your life savings on that. I would.

• Russia is a close ally of Syria.

This recent action proves who Trump is REALLY working for: the neo-cons who want to use the Middle East to start WW3.

Russian-American relations just took another turn for the worse. Move that Doomsday Clock a few minutes closer to Midnight...

• Why is Syria so important?  Has to be a better reason than just an oil pipeline, or a pawn to start a war.

• Nothing makes sense. President Assad has been fighting for his life for several years, and all of a sudden decides to commit ѕυιcιdє by Trump? There is absolutely no motive for Assad to use gas to kill a few dozen people at the cost of his entire regime!. Something is not right here.
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

• Wait. I don't follow the news. Did we just attack Syria? I voted for Trump because I thought he would not start a war with Syria.

Who benefits? Cui bono?

Let's see... Syria and her ally Russia had smashed the Islamic State to bits. They completely had the upper hand. The United States was losing even its weak pretext for being in Syria at all.

Now "somebody" has used chemical weapons. Gee, I wonder if it was the United States/Islamic State (their shadow army)? Such a fαℓѕє fℓαg would give the United States a pretext to bomb Syria and continue their crusade to unseat Assad (who has over 80% of the popular vote in Syria -- the people love him)

But Syria has NO reason to use chemical weapons at this point, and EVERY REASON NOT TO.

I'm not going to believe Assad is insane. I'd rather believe the meowing is coming from the cat, rather than believe that the cat was silent, and the dog was miraculously meowing. Which is more likely? A meow from a cat, or a miraculous meow from a dog?

• Putin Calls US Airstrikes on Syria ‘An Illegal Act of Aggression,’ Suspends Deconfliction Air Agreement with US
APRIL 7, 2017 BY 21WIRE 15 COMMENTS
weapons had been deployed from.
21st Century Wire says…
Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a statement this morning condemning last night’s US airstrikes on Syria as ‘an illegal act of aggression’ in a heated response to the military action.
Putin warned that the knee-jerk move by Donald Trump will result in grave damage to bilateral relations between Washington and Moscow – a relationship which is already in disrepair.
Last night the United States fired 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles striking a Syrian airbase near Homs – which the US claim as the airbase fro which a “chemical weapons attack” was launched earlier this week.
According Putin, and many foreign leaders, Trump’s sudden missile strikes on a Syrian air base is in sharp violation of international law, but also US law as well – as Trump ignored calls for getting Congressional approval, or at least an Authorization of Military Force (AMF).
Moscow also announced that it will now be pulling out of its ‘Deconfliction’ agreement with the USin Syria – a program originally designed to minimize the risk of in-flight incidents between U.S. and Russian aircraft operating over Syria.
“President Putin considers the American strikes against Syria an aggression against a sovereign government in violations of the norms of international law, and under a far-fetched pretext,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Friday. “This step by Washington is causing significant damage to Russian-American relations, which are already in a deplorable state.”
Russia’s Foreign Ministry also called for an immediate meeting of the United Nations Security Council after President Vladimir Putin declared the strike a violation of international law.
The move has opened up Trump to charges of violating the US Constitution and may be used as additional fodder by his political opposition at home.
President Trump and the UK have both blamed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime for the alleged ‘chemical attack’ that struck the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib – an al Qaeda stronghold, supposedly killing at least 70 people, including women and children – according to al Qaeda linked NGO the White Helmets and ‘opposition’ media outlets embedded in the terrorist-held region of Idlib.
The US are claiming that sarin gas was used, but as yet there is no proof to suggest that this is even the case.
Planning for the attack on Syria is said to have begun on Wednesday by the Pentagon, and the Defense Department had numerous “off-the-shelf plans” from the Obama administration, including the very same cruise missile strikes on Syrian airfields.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a US official told Reuters, ‘It was a matter of dusting those off and adapting them for the current target set and timing.’

• Donald Trump Is An International Law Breaker
By Colonel W. Patrick Lang
April 08, 2017 "Information Clearing House" -   Donald Trump's decision to launch cruise missile strikes on a Syrian Air Force Base was based on a lie.  In the coming days the American people will learn that the Intelligence Community knew that Syria did not drop a military chemical weapon on innocent civilians in Idlib. Here is what happened:
• The Russians briefed the United States on the proposed target. This is a process that started more than two months ago. There is a dedicated phone line that is being used to coordinate and deconflict (i.e., prevent US and Russian air assets from shooting at each other) the upcoming operation.
• The United States was fully briefed on the fact that there was a target in Idlib that the Russians believes was a weapons/explosives depot for Islamic rebels.
• The Syrian Air Force hit the target with conventional weapons. All involved expected to see a massive secondary explosion. That did not happen. Instead, smoke, chemical smoke, began billowing from the site. It turns out that the Islamic rebels used that site to store chemicals, not sarin, that were deadly. The chemicals included organic phosphates and chlorine and they followed the wind and killed civilians.
• There was a strong wind blowing that day and the cloud was driven to a nearby village and caused casualties.
• We know it was not sarin. How? Very simple. The so-called "first responders" handled the victims without gloves. If this had been sarin they would have died. Sarin on the skin will kill you. How do I know? I went through "Live Agent" training at Fort McClellan in Alabama.

• The Chemical Attack is a Washington Orchestrated Event Washington has reopened
the conflict with a Tomahawk missile attack on Syrian Air Force Bases.
The Russian/Syrian air defence systems did not prevent the attack. The Washington
Establishment has reasserted control. First Flynn and now Bannon. All that are left
in the Trump administration are the Zionists and the crazed generals who want war
with Russia, China, Iran, Syria, and North Korea.
There is no one in the White House to stop them.
Kiss goodbye to normalized relations with Russia.
“Cooperation with Washington” has only one meaning. It means surrender to Washington.
Putin has only part-way cleaned up Russia. The country remains full of American agents.
Will Putin fall to the Washington Establishment just as Trump has?

• Breaking Reports: U.S. Forces Entering Syria From Jordanian Border
TOPICS:Brandon TurbevilleMilitarySyria
APRIL 8, 2017

By Brandon Turbeville
Reports coming in from Lebanon and Syria are indicating that the United States is not done with its direct assault on Syria even as the al-Sha’aryat airbase that was targeted by American Tomahawk missiles is back up and running.
As independent journalist, Sarah Abdallah, reports, around 20 U.S. armored vehicles have poured across the Jordanian border into Syria. At this time, it remains unclear as to what the purpose of the vehicles might be. Abdallah is based in Lebanon.
Some suggest that the vehicles may simply yet another illegal American incursion into Syria of the routine variety, a prospect that is dangerous enough given current circuмstances. However, there is also the possibility that the vehicles are part of something much larger such as an invasion of Syria by the United States, thus putting the U.S. in direct odds and likely military confrontation with both Syrian and Russian forces.
As of yet, there is no clear reason being cited for the incursion.

BREAKING REPORT – Petraeus Working Behind the Scenes With McMaster to Put Troops on the Ground in Syria
April 9, 2017 in Columnists, Government, News by Ken

inShare

Cristina Laila Apr 8th, 2017 11:41 pm 1104 Comments
According to a report by independent journalist, Mike Cernovich, current National Security Advisor, H.R. McMaster is manipulating intelligence reports given to President Trump regarding Syria.
Via Mike Cernovich:
Quote
McMaster is plotting how to sell a massive ground war in Syria to President Trump with the help of disgraced former CIA director and convicted criminal David Petraeus, who mishandled classified information by sharing docuмents with his mistress.
As NSA, McMaster’s job is to synthesize intellience reports from all other agencies. President Trump is being given an inncurate picture of the situation in Syria, as McMaster is seeking to involve the U.S. in a full scale war in Syria.
The McMaster-Petraeus plan calls for 150,000 American ground troops in Syria.
Many special operations veterans including General Joseph Votel have raised serious concerns about McMaster’s plans for Syria.

Quote
Sources also suggest that McMaster is sharing classified information with Petraeus, whose security clearance was revoked.
Cernovich points out that Petraeus’ influence in the NSC remains strong:
Quote
McMaster was called Petraeus’ golden child by some commenters, noting the strong influence Petraeus had over McMaster. Petraeus was considered for the position of NSA, but withdrew his name from consideration once McMaster’s name was included on the short-list. McMaster’s appointment allowed Petraeus to maintain control over the NSC without bringing his considerable baggage to the position.
Derek Harvey, the top Middle East adviser in the NSC, has close ties with Petraeus and is close with McMaster. (Harvey reportedly faces a massive EEO complaint from subordinates, although that investigation remains open.)
Harvey and McMaster have been trying to subvert Joint Chiefs Chairman General Joseph Dunford and Secretary of Defense James Mattis. Mattis and Dunford support working with our allies in the fight against ISIS. Harvey and McMaster are advocating for a massive American-only ground force.
About Flynn and Bannon:

Quote
Two men were standing in between another U.S.-led war in the Middle East and McMaster — General Mike Flynn and Steve Bannon.
Flynn was removed after Susan Rice unmasked classified information concerning him. Bannon’s role within the White House was weakened by McMaster, who demanded Bannon be removed from his advisory position at NSC.
McMaster’s friends in the media, as part of a broader strategy to increase McMaster’s power, have claimed Jared Kushner and Bannon had a major falling out. In fact Kushner and Bannon are united in their opposition to McMaster’s plan.
If McMaster and Petraeus have their way, America will find itself in another massive war in the Middle East.

Russia, Iran Warn U.S. They Will "Respond With Force" If Syria "Red Lines" Crossed Again

Apr 9, 2017 9:25 AM
Quote
A statement issued on Sunday by a joint command centre consisting of forces of Russian, Iran and allied militia alliance supporting Syrian President Bashar al Assad said that Friday's US strike on the Syrian air base crossed “red lines” and it would "respond with force" to any new aggression while increasing their level of support to their ally.
In the statement published by the group on media outlet Ilam al Harbi, the pro-Assad alliances says that “what America waged in an aggression on Syria is a crossing of red lines. From now on we will respond with force to any aggressor or any breach of red lines from whoever it is and America knows our ability to respond well."
Earlier on Sunday the UK's Defence Secretary, Sir Michael Fallon, demanded Russia rein in Mr Assad (by which he really meant be willing to accept a new Syrian regime with a pro-western puppet leader, and one who is willing to allow the Qatar gas pipeline to cross the country on its way to Europe.
Fallon also claimed that Moscow is "responsible for every civilian death" in the chemical attack on Khan Sheikhun and said Putin was responsible for the brutal killings “by proxy”, because it was the Syrian president’s “principal backer." The defense minister said the attack had happened "on their watch" and that Vladimir Putin must now live up to previous promises that Mr Assad’s chemical weapons had been destroyed.  His comments came after Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson pulled out of a Moscow visit hours before he was due to fly.
* * *

Finally, for those who are unclear about the core geopolitical tensions that are at the base of the long-running Syrian proxy war, the answer is - as so often tends to be - commodities and specifically natural gas, as we first explained in 2013, and as summarized in the following October 2016 article courtesy of Eric Zuesse (see also "Competing Gas Pipelines Are Fueling The Syrian War & Migrant Crisis")
The Oil-Gas War Over Syria (In 4 Maps)
Turkey’s Anadolu News Agency, though government-run, is providing remarkably clear and reliable diagrammatic descriptions of the current status of the U.S - and - fundamentalist - Sunni, versus Russia - and - Shia - and - NON - fundamentalist - Sunni, sides, in the current oil-and-gas war in the Middle East, for control over territory in Syria, for construction of oil-and-gas pipelines through Syria supplying fuel into the world’s largest energy-market: Europe. Russia is now the dominant supplier of both oil and gas, but its ally Iran is a Shiite gas-powerhouse that wants to share the market there, and Russia has no objection.
Qatar is a Sunni gas-powerhouse and wants to become the main supplier of gas there, and Saudi Arabia is a Sunni oil-powerhouse, which wants to become the major supplier of oil, but Saudi oil and Qatari gas would be pipelined through secular-controlled (Assad's) Syria, and this is why the U.S. and its fundamentalist-Sunni allies, the Sauds, and Qataris, are using Al Qaeda and other jihadists to conquer enough of a strip through Syria so that U.S. companies such as Halliburton will be able safely to place pipelines there, to be marketed in Europe by U.S. firms such as Exxon. Iran also wants to pipeline its gas through Syria, and this is one reason why Iran is defending Syria’s government, against the U.S.-Saudi-Qatari-jihadist invasion, which is trying to overthrow and replace Assad.
Here are the most-informative of Anadolu’s war-maps:
The first presents the effort by many countries to eliminate ISIS control over the large Iraqi city of Mosul. A remarkably frank remark made in this map is "An escape corridor into Syria will be left for Daesh [ISIS] so they can vacate Mosul" - an admission that the U.S. - Saudi - Qatari team want the ISIS jihadists who are in Mosul to relocate into Syria to assist the U.S. - Saudi - Qatari effort there to overthrow and replace the Assad government:

The second is about the Egyptian government's trying to assist the Syrian government's defense against the Saudi - U.S. - Qatari invasion of Syria, at Aleppo, where Syria's Al Qaeda branch is trying to retain its current control over part of that large city. The Saud family are punishing the Egyptian government for that:

Here is Russia's proposed gas-pipeline, which would enable Russia to reduce its dependence upon Ukraine (through which Russia currently pipes its gas into Europe). Obama conquered and took over Ukraine in February 2014 via his coup that overthrew the democratically elected neutralist Ukrainian President there:

In addition, there is the following map from oil-price.com:

That map shows the competing Shiia (Russia-backed) and Sunni (U.S.-backed) gas-pipelines into Europe — the central issue in the invasion and defense of Syria.
On 21 September 2016, Gareth Porter headlined "The War Against the Assad Regime Is Not a ‘Pipeline War’", and he pointed out some errors in Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s account that had been published under the headline "Syria: Another Pipeline War". Porter argued: "It's easy to understand why that explanation would be accepted by many anti-war activists: it is in line with the widely accepted theory that all the US wars in the Middle East have been ‘oil wars’ — about getting control of the petroleum resources of the region and denying them to America's enemies."
But the ‘pipeline war’ theory is based on false history and it represents a distraction from the real problem of US policy in the Middle East — the US war state's determination to hold onto its military posture in the region. Porter ignored the key question there, as to why the US war state has a determination to hold onto its military posture in the region. Opening and protecting potential oil-gas-pipeline routes are important reasons why. Clearly, Kennedy’s docuмentation that the CIA was trying as early as 1949 to overthrow Syria’s secular government so as to allow to the Sauds a means of cheaply transporting their oil through Syria into Europe, remains unaffected by any of the objections that Porter raised to Kennedy’s article. The recent portion of Kennedy’s timeline is affected, but not his basic argument.
Furthermore, any military strategist knows that the US war state is intimately connected to the U.S. oil-and-gas industries, including pipelines (oilfield services) as well as marketing (Exxon etc.). And Porter got entirely wrong what that connection (which he ignored) actually consists of: it consists of U.S. government taxpayer-funded killers for those U.S. international corporations. Here is how Barack Obama put it, when addressing graduating cadets at West Point, America’s premier military-training institution:
Quote
Russia’s aggression toward former Soviet states unnerves capitals in Europe, while China’s economic rise and military reach worries its neighbors. From Brazil to India, rising middle classes compete with us, and governments seek a greater say in global forums. And even as developing nations embrace democracy and market economies, 24-hour news and social media makes it impossible to ignore the continuation of sectarian conflicts and failing states and popular uprisings that might have received only passing notice a generation ago.
It will be your generation’s task to respond to this new world. The question we face, the question each of you will face, is not whether America will lead, but how we will lead - not just to secure our peace and prosperity, but also extend peace and prosperity around the globe.

He was saying there that America’s military is in service to U.S.-based international corporations in their competition against those of Russia, Brazil, China, India, and anywhere else in which "rising middle classes compete with us". Those places are what Gareth Porter referred to as "America's enemies".
Economic competitors are "enemies". Obama thinks that way, and even a progressive journalist such as Porter doesn’t place into a skeptical single - quotation - mark - surround, the phrase ‘America’s enemies’ when that phrase is used in this equational context. On both the right (Obama) and the left (Porter), the equation of a government and of the international corporations that headquarter in its nation — the treatment of the military as being an enforcement-arm for the nation’s international corporations — is simply taken for granted, not questioned, not challenged.
RFK Jr. was correct, notwithstanding some recent timeline-errors. Syria is "Another Pipeline War", and Obama is merely intensifying it. (On 9 November 2015, I offered a different account than RFK Jr. provided of the recent history — the Obama portion — of the longstanding U.S. aggression against Syria; and it links back to Jonathan Marshall’s excellent articles on that, and to other well-sourced articles, in addition to primary sources, none of which contradict RFK Jr.’s basic view, "Syria: Another Pipeline War").
Another portion of Porter’s commentary is, however, quite accurate: America’s ‘Defense’ (or mass-killing-abroad) industries (such as Lockheed Martin) are not merely servants of the U.S. government, but are also served by the U.S. government: "the US war state's determination to hold onto its military posture in the region" is protection of the major market — the Middle Eastern market — for U.S. ‘Defense’ products and services. It’s not only America’s firms in the oil, gas, and pipelines, industries, which benefit from America’s military; it is also America’s firms in the mass-killing industries, that do.
To the extent that the public (here including Barack Obama and Gareth Porter) do not condemn the presumption that "the business of America is business", or that a valid function of U.S. - taxpayer - funded military and other foreign-affairs operations is to serve the stockholders of U.S. international corporations, the hell (such as in Syria) will continue. Gareth Porter got lost among the trees because he failed to see (and to point to) that forest.
