I think they will, Spouse. I think we are at the doors of WWIII.
But beliefe in a near WWIII when all will either be killed or get seriously damaged, drives away all motivation from life.
It reduces us to fear and despair (I mean despair from building and planning your future not salvation.)
If you know that there will be such a war the next month, you will neither study, nor apply for a job, nor marry or have a child. will you?
Well, I think those 2 things are not opposed, I mean beiliving in a near war and having a motivation for living. My motivation for living is that I was created and redeemed by God and that I`m
bound to be saint.
A Catholic shouldn`t be afraid. Actually if God gave us the prophesies (and I`m talking here of public revalation not about private ones) it was for some reason. I can`t forget these words of Our Lord: "But when these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is at hand" (Luk 21;28), it`s the enemies of Our Lord who should be afraid, not us. (This doesn`t mean of course, that these are not very difficult times. They are).
As Saint Augustine said: "we should act as if everything would depend on us and pray as if everything would depend on God". If we shouldn`t act or plan our future because a war or because the end may be at hand, I think nobody would ever do anything since we can die at any moment (that is, it`s not the end of all but of
me) I hope you understand what I`m saying. May be I`m not being clear enough.
When I say "at the doors" I don`t mean "next month" it may take years (not many, IMO) or may be the authors I`ve read are simply mistaken in their commentaries and these are but "rumours of wars" (Mt. 24;6) and nothing else.
To answer your question. I work and study and if I don`t get married it`s just because I don`t think that`s my vocation.
Needless to say my friend, I don`t want your country to be attacked, I simply think that may happen.
God bless you, Spouse!
