  • The videos describe activities but they don't tell us what are the actual conditions that motivate the fighters, and I went looking through other videos that are from the IRA side, but also did not find much helpful information about why they are still fighting.

The videos on both sides seem to appeal to a kind of masculine romance of battle, sometimes referring to past wrongs, but nowhere giving me, sitting here across the pond, any clue as to what they would like to see instead of what is there now, and I'm also pretty clueless about what is there, now.

Clovis, perhaps you could elaborate for us clueless Americans?

Read between the lines in the BBC docuмentary...Irish seperatists are considered a more serious threat than Islamic freedom fighters by the British state.

The Tories will need the Unionists to form to next "UK" goverment.

The war will be back in the six counties within 2 years at most.

I got that. But what are the conditions that make the Unionists angry enough to fight? What do they want to see instead?

This French docuмentary from the 70s explains things...

  • I'm going through the whole series of docuмentaries related to that link. Extremely informative. I remember Bernadette Devlin, too! Had a copy of her book "The Price of My Soul" and heard her speak once.

I worry that the gap between what even the most popular ιnѕυrrєcтισn can muster and what the powers-that-be will have ready to retaliate is much wider today than it was during the "Troubles", however.  I do believe the powers-that-be would rather incinerate the planet than allow the general population to have anything like the freedom and equality we all dream of.

  • Clovis, considering that you are sedevacantist and believe what calls itself the Catholic Church is not Catholic, how does that affect your support of the separatists?  Doesn't it make their goals seem rather bizarre and pointless?  Even if they rid themselves of the British scourge, they'd be ruled over by a Babylonian anti-Christ false Church.

Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

I dont support them as such.

I have friends though in the six counties. Honestly I do my best to try and ignore all politics full stop. Which is hard for me. Please remember me in your prayers.

  • Clovis, we should have to have this kind of discussion with Protestants. Anyone who calls our Catholic Church "Babylonian Anti-Christ" is going way beyond tolerable differences of opinion among Catholics.  This is supposed to be a catholic board, and I strongly object to having this kind of ignorant protestant allowed to disrupt conversations here.

He obviously never lived through anything like the oppressive conditions his Protestant friends impose on Catholics in the Six Counties, and he obviously hates Catholics as completely as those protestants do.
