  • I was just reading how the Mayan calendar stops abruptly at December 21, 2012.  According to one astronomer, on that date the sun will cross the center of the Milky Way "equator".

He believes that there will be a lot of solar activity which may affect the earth.

One of the oldest doxologies in the Church is: "Who will come to judge the living and the dead, and the world by fire."

Tradition says that the world will end by fire.

It's almost like the devil knows it too, because he has his minions building tons of underground cities/bunkers -- as if they can somehow prepare against the Chastisement.

But notice that the date of the Mayan calendar ending is right on the eve of 2013 -- we all know that 13 is Our Lady's number -- Fatima apparitions, etc.

Perhaps the devils (who gave the Mayans their knowledge of the future) were specifically forbidden to even guess about what happens during the "Age of Mary"?

Whether it's the end of the world, or a great chastisement, it means the same thing for us: pray.

    In Christ,

    Matthew

  • Let's hope the answer is "nothing".

The devils can only guess -- they can't tell the future as God can.
But they understand the world as no human can -- so they are VERY GOOD guessers. For instance, they can see the butterfly flapping its wings in Tokyo, and know FOR CERTAIN because of their angelic meteorological knowledge that there WILL be a severe thunderstorm in Texas in 3 days. They also could know exactly how many mold spores would be produced, how many people would miss work because of allergies -- you get the idea. Being spirits, they are VERY intelligent.

HOWEVER -- they know what THEIR plan is, and what's going on in the world right now is largely out of Satan's handbook. That is to say, evil is more or less triumphant in the world right now, so whatever happens is what the master of evil (Satan) wants to happen.

He knows what he plans to do, etc.

  • My observations.

    - The Mayan calendar does not "stop abruptly", no calendar does. Rather it follows a cycle that repeats itself every 5,000 years or so for what is referred here as the "long count" and then it resets to 0.  Moreover, the completion of a cycle was an event to be celebrated, not feared.

    - What you refer cryptically as solar activity, are sunspots; which creates in the worst case scenarios troubled satellite communications, interference with electronics and can in some instances destabilize power-grids. (All events the Mayans would not fear of course, or care about)
    No fire and brimstones apocalypse.
They also contribute in creating beautiful Aureole Borealis which are natural blessings.

    - Your numerological speculations aren't Christian.

    - Mayans knew the future ?  Where do you get this bizarre notion ?!  And then adding that this knowledge was imparted by the Devil ?  I leave it to your conscience to evaluate how close you are to middle-ages ignorant populaces calling for witchcraft where it was not.

This whole new-age speculation on the Mayans and their calendar is little more then a good subject to write (and sell) books on.

To those honestly interested in the rich history, culture and civilization of Mayans and Aztecs, this site is a good point of reference: Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies

  • NO! NO! NO!

2012 and some of the years around it have been tossed around by those hippie liberal pagan earth worshippers.

Supposedly its the year "Gaia" (supposedly our planet has a name and is sentient) finally strikes back at the human race for causing so much pollution.

Its also the year UFO nuts think we'll make first contact or be invaded.

So many tinfoil hat nuts have put significance on that year.
